Today marks Boomitra’s 8. birthday. Nearly a decade ago, our founder and CEO Aadith Moorthy was moved by the hard work, dedication, and lives of smallholder farmers. Today, we can proudly share that 150,000+ smallholder farmers are now empowered to be climate resilient and food secure through our projects.
As we’ve grown from a seedling idea into an industry leader, we haven’t wavered from the values we started with: sustainability, innovation, passion, authenticity, and inclusivity. We’ve proven that profit and stakeholder satisfaction increase hand in hand with environmental restoration, community empowerment, and climate health.
Celebrate this year’s achievements with us, which have allowed Boomitra to make Earth a greener, brighter home for us all.
Likened to winning an Oscar for the planet, this accolade recognizes Boomitra’s exceptional efforts in combatting climate change through innovative technology and regenerative agriculture.
With this award, we’ve expanded our solution to more countries, enabling every farmer to turn their day-to-day practices into a climate solution. We added nearly 2 million acres to our project in Mexico and 1 million acres to our project in Argentina and welcomed thousands of farmers in India to our project.
“The light of optimism is burning bright in our Earthshot Finalists. From Boomitra, S4S, and Acción Andina, to GRST and WildAid Marine Program, our Winners and all our Finalists remind us that, no matter where you are on the planet, the spirit of ingenuity, and the ability to inspire change, surrounds us all,” said Prince William.
With each 30 Under 30 list, Forbes celebrates the brightest young minds driving change in their fields and reinventing their world. Aadith’s leadership in revolutionizing carbon credits and soil measurement with satellite and AI technology has improved ecosystems, economies, and the climate.
Aadith’s vision for Boomitra has driven our company from an idea to an impactful reality: over our eight years, we’ve restored 5+ million acres across 9 countries.
DP World purchased soil carbon removal credits from three of our carbon sequestration projects: Grassland Restoration in Northern Mexico, Grassland Restoration in South America, y Carbon Farming in India. This investment is helping farmers and ranchers draw down carbon, enhancing yields, increasing food security, and providing additional income streams.
Notably, DP World is an Earthshot Prize Founding Partner. As a 2023 Earthshot Prize Winner, we’re proof of the pivotal role the Prize plays in cultivating collaborations that drive global positive environmental change.
This annual recognition celebrates companies making an extraordinary impact around the world. To us, this accolade reflects our pioneering success in climate solution innovation.
“Effective climate action requires prioritizing those most profoundly affected—communities in the Global South. That’s what makes Boomitra a leader in climate action. It’s not just about technological innovation; it’s about fostering climate solutions that resonate with the heartbeat of our global community. We are deeply honored and grateful to be recognized by TIME as one of the 100 Most Influential Companies,” said Aadith in response to the news.
We signed a landmark agreement with the Mongolian Ministry of Environment & Tourism to introduce regenerative agriculture and carbon finance to farmers and herders across Mongolia.
We also signed an agreement with Mitsubishi Corporation to jointly conduct feasibility studies to develop a regenerative agriculture project in Mongolia under Japan’s Joint Crediting Mechanism.
We anticipate that by 2030, this project will cover 20 million acres—one of the largest compliance carbon projects in the world.
With Alquería, we’re promoting regenerative agriculture and carbon finance to ranchers across Colombia. We project that this partnership will improve the lives of 1,000 dairy farmers, who would steward a total of 130,000 acres of ranchland.
“By integrating our expertise in carbon sequestration with Alqueria’s deep-rooted presence in Colombia, we aim to drive positive change for local communities and contribute to global efforts in combating climate change. Together, we can create a model of sustainable development that benefits both the environment and the economy,” Aadith had remarked at the time of our announcement.
In the last year, Boomitra’s team has continued to drive a culture of innovation across departments, with two standout examples: the formation of a Carbon Hacking team and the development of Mitra, our pilot GenAI conversational agent. Our Carbon Hacking team fosters collaboration by providing farmers and ranchers with real-time, localized support to adopt regenerative practices that sequester carbon. Likewise, Mitra, a contestant in the Google API Developer Competition People’s Choice Award, showcases our dedication to uplifting farmers and ranchers. Our team is developing Mitra to explore new and innovative ways of delivering localized agricultural guidance in Spanish and Swahili. The competition is still open for voting in Spanish and in Swahili.
This year alone, Boomitra farmers and ranchers have removed 2 million tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere, making our eighth year one of tremendous impact. As we close this chapter, we’re excited for what the next year will bring—new challenges, new opportunities, and continued commitment to driving meaningful change for our planet and communities.
